Research Nurse Manager - Center for Drug Safety and Immunology

JOB SUMMARY:
The Center for Drug Safety and Immunology (CDSI) ( https://medsites.vumc.org/CDSI ) is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary center that promotes personalized medicine, has significant community outreach, and leads studies internationally driving the prediction, prevention, earlier diagnosis, improved treatment, and outcomes for immune mediated adverse drug reactions.
The CDSI is currently looking for a research nurse to work as a Manager, Research Projects for its interdisciplinary team, to serve as a coordinate a multi-site randomized double blinded clinical trial, and multiple prospective and retrospective studies enrolling in both the hospital and outpatient setting. This is a senior level position where the primary responsibility includes supervising and training study staff, developing standard operating procedures, protocol development, and IRB maintenance. Additional responsibilities include working closely with grants management to complete budgets and grant reports and assisting with executing contracts. The Manager, Research Projects will work closely along side Sr. Research Specialist managing laboratory operations, the Research Program Manager overseeing the CDSI Program, and the Vanderbilt Coordinating Center (VCC).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Define and achieve financial targets for the unit/area, consistent with the departmental financial plan
- Develop clinical study budgets and negotiate with sponsors as well as internal departments
- Report findings that occur as part of the audit process and incidental discoveries to the director/administrator for auditing, correction and/or educational purposes.
- Exercise judgment and prepare supporting or correcting documentation regarding Institutional and Federal billing policies.
- Ensure a safe, satisfying and enriching environment for employees and provides a qualified, competent staff
- Defines qualifications and performance expectations for staff positions and re-evaluates over time. Establishes objective scoring criteria to decrease bias during evaluation.
