Completes patient care assessment, evaluation, medication review, including baseline vital signs within five minutes of admission. Initially assesses/screens patient's physical, psychological and social status and documents on medical record. Assembles chart for scheduled surgery, checks chart for deficiencies and initiates appropriate action plan for completion. Determines the need for further assessment taking into consideration the patient's diagnosis treatment setting, desire for treatment and response to any previous treatment. Makes decisions based on identified patient need, care or treatment priorities. Administers medication safely and efficiently; demonstrates knowledge of pharmacological interventions. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical specialties and their implications to post operative care. Demonstrates calmness and skill when responding to emergency situations. Provides discharge instructions to patient/care giver and ensures their understanding; ensures the safe discharge of patients.
