The Corporate Director of Infection Prevention directs, manages and ensures ongoing compliance with the Infection Prevention and Control standards across the Tenet enterprise. This role serves as a clinical expert resource and decision maker for the health system on infection prevention and control issues. Also acts as a key facilitator for Joint Commission (JC) preparation and is a primary resource for the continued readiness team on all standards related to infection prevention and control. Proactively and collaboratively promotes cost-effective, high quality care as well as creating, implementing and supporting clinical infection prevention initiatives. The designated person will be given the authority to consult and advise facilities on surveillance activities, Infection Prevention and Control Program policies, and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities throughout Tenet. Reports on matters of infection prevention and has regular and frequent collaboration with Patient Safety & Clinical Risk Management, Practice Performance, Quality, facility leadership and facility infection preventionists.
Works with physicians, organizational leaders, community leaders, and staff to promote understanding and compliance with Infection Control regulations and functions.
Reviews relevant department, nursing, and outpatient clinics Infection Control (IC) Guidelines as well as IC Committee facility meetings with appropriate leaders to ensure compliance and appropriate IC practice.
Reviews State and Federal regulations/laws governing Infection Control, to include JC, AHCA and CMS Standards; advises the Hospital Epidemiologistâ��s, IP staff, appropriate leaders and physicians of new and/or revised regulations related to infection control.
Keeps Corporate CMO, CNO, Quality/Safety VP, hospital Epidemiologists, Administration, and Risk Management informed of IC/IP problems and assists in the management and follow-up of Infection Control-related events.
Directs, supervises and supports functions of the infection control staff
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Masterâ��s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or other related field of study from an accredited program.
Seven or more years of experience in Infection Control with knowledge and experience in patient care practices, infectious diseases, disinfection/sterilization, epidemiology, data collection, and/or basis statistics.
Five years of supervisory and/or leadership experience in a healthcare setting
Required: Certified in infection prevention (CIC) and with active certification
Preferred Education and Experience: Clinical licensure as an RN, NP, DO, MD with active licensure
Strong knowledge and experience with regulatory and compliance standards regarding infection control.
Demonstrated knowledge of rapid robust performance improvement theory and practice.
Outstanding oral and written presentation skills.
