This position is responsible for identifying, designing, implementing, and monitoring strategies used to enhance the use of medications in a clinically efficient and financially responsible manner at Banner Health. This includes supporting the enterprise-wide formulary system and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Clinical Consensus Group. Other responsibilities include leading medication-use evaluations and medication stewardship activities, developing clinical and business insights by analyzing large volumes of internal pharmacy data, communicating key information with stakeholders, and precepting pharmacy residents. This position works in close collaboration with facility-based pharmacy leadership teams and other key stakeholders to optimize clinical outcomes and facilitate cost-effective medication use.Essential Functions:- Supports the enterprise-wide formulary system and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Clinical Consensus Group. This includes developing and reviewing evidence-based formulary evaluations, participating in the day-to-day management of the formulary in all venues of care, continuously monitoring the formulary to identify opportunities to standardize and optimize medication use, and managing drug shortages.- Leads medication stewardship activities and initiatives that focus on minimizing medication costs, reducing waste, and improving the efficiency of healthcare. This includes identifying opportunities, along with prioritizing, designing, implementing, and monitoring strategies that address opportunities.- Promotes optimal medication therapy by leading system-wide medication-use evaluations and other clinical pharmacy initiatives that focus on improving medication use practices. Identifies suboptimal or potentially unsafe medication use practices by monitoring best practices, collaborating with subject matter experts, and analyzing internal data obtained from various sources. Designs, implements, and monitors solutions to address suboptimal medication use practices in collaboration with key stakeholders and the system-wide pharmacy and therapeutics committee.-Using pharmacovigilance and pharmacoeconomic principles, evaluates medication utilization trends across the organization. Synthesizes actionable clinical and business insights based on analysis of big data derived from incongruent sources (e.g., purchasing data from wholesaler, clinical data from the EHR). Provides medication evaluation and analytics support to various Banner Pharmacy Services business lines and partners.-Serves as a drug information resource for the system. Applies clinical and literature evaluation skills, knowledge of medication use processes, operations and policies to solve problems.-Creates and disseminates clear and concise communication related to the formulary system and other medication use initiatives.-Serves as a formal or informal preceptor for PGY1 and/or PGY2 pharmacy residents.

Advanced degree or equivalent working knowledge in Pharmacy.
Board certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. Pharmacy license.
Significant experience, typically gained through 4+ years relevant experience. Strong background in drug information, formulary management, pharmacoeconomics/health outcomes, or related field Must have the ability to collect, analyze, and present data from a variety of sources to facilitate continuous improvements in medication safety, cost-savings, and pharmacoeconomic initiatives. Must possess demonstrated flexibility in responding to the needs of multiple constituencies with a service-oriented philosophy. Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate interdisciplinary teams. Must also possess demonstrated skill in problem analysis, project management, conflict resolution and oral/written presentation. Requires ability to balance and manage multiple projects.
PGY2 or fellowship in drug information, pharmacoeconomics, or related program.Intermediate to expert level Microsoft Excel skills and/or experience with relational databases
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
