Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Infection Preventionist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work at Swedish Ballard in Seattle, WA.
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the clinical, operational, and support activities of the department of Epidemiology in accordance with the Swedish Medical Center’s mission, values, and strategic plan.
In this position you will:
Develop and implement standards that control and lower the risk of endemic and epidemic infectious processes for patients, visitors, and staff
Facilitate the development of departmental and interdepartmental plans to control emerging pathogens
Monitor and document patients with nonsocomial infections, report any cluster of infections or single isolates of unusual strains to the Coordinator or Manager
Enhance the quality of patient care through the establishment of fiscally responsible infection control and employee health practices which promote the well being and productivity of all medical center personnel
Assure communicable diseases are reported to Public Health
Act as a liaison between SMC, Seattle-King County Public Health, and others to improve the health of the community we serve
Infection Preventionist Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Baccalaureate of Science in nursing, microbiology, or related field
Certification in Infection Control required within 2 ½ year of employment or within six months of becoming eligible
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Current License to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Washington
Certification in Infection Control
Experience in epidemiology, employee health, public health, clinical microbiology, communicable disease, data collection, analysis, and adult education
