Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is the hospital of choice for many families in the Manatee/Sarasota region. Since it opened in September 2004, the hospital has earned the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission. The Gold Seal of Approval is recognized across the nation as a symbol of quality that shows the hospital's commitment to meeting certain performance standards. The hospital has also received an 'A' for patient safety in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
The Manager is responsible for the oversight of the hospital-wide Infection Prevention (IP) and Control program to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, licensing and other industry standards. This responsibility includes: risk assessment, surveillance, prevention and control strategies and include consultation related to: high level disinfection, environmental controls, occupational health, construction and emergency management. Development, implementation and evaluation of IP plan and related policies as well as required data reporting to various regulatory agencies. Utilizes principle of epidemiology and serves as a resource for federal, state and local requirements regarding infection prevention and occupational health. Responsible for reporting of
collection and analysis of infection data, evaluation of products and procedures. Development and review of policies, consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention and control strategies and includes but is not limited to education , implementation of changes mandated by regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies and reporting communicable diseases to health departments; participation in research projects and product evaluation and approval process related to Infection Prevention.
