INFECTION PREVENTION PRACTITIONER RN
Centegra Hospital, McHenry, IL
Collaborating with physicians, leadership and associates, the detail-oriented professional we select for this unique opportunity will evaluate the quality of patient care and outcomes as they relate to healthcare-associated infections. This individual will collect, prepare, analyze, and present associated data; make recommendations for action; and monitor associate compliance regarding the use of barriers and infection-prevention measures. Additional responsibilities include the following:
Preparing and presenting educational offerings for staff members.
Serving as a resource for all departments and personnel in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Implementing programs to protect patients, healthcare workers, visitors and others in the healthcare environment.
Setting and recommending policies and procedures to prevent adverse events.
Providing internal and external reporting of information and data.
Promoting compliance with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
Performing ongoing monitoring, surveillance, and trending of healthcare-associated infections.
Assessing infection-prevention opportunities and making recommendations for corrective action and implementation.
Supporting and facilitating the medical staff Infection Control Committee.
Performing annual risk assessment and monitoring organizational compliance with all infection-prevention practices.
Initiating and revising infection-prevention policies and procedures.
Conducting outbreak investigation and initiating prevention measures.
Reporting communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
Status as a registered nurse (RN) or medical technologist.
Knowledge of NHSN/CDC guidelines and reporting.
One or more years of professional clinical experience.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
Two or more years of position-related experience.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
Computer proficiency, including Midas + and MedMined.
