Director, Infection Prevention UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center Glen Burnie, MD
UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention professional to oversee the Infection Prevention initiatives for the 293-bed hospital.
-The Infection Prevention Director develops, supervises, implements and coordinates the Infection Prevention Program for UMBWMC, including compliance with all regulatory agencies and infection control and prevention guidelines.
-The Infection Prevention Director's responsibilities also include supervision of the Infection Preventionist and department secretary.
-The Infection Prevention Director also works closely with the Physician Advisor for Infection Prevention, acting as resources to hospital leaders and staff members for infection related issues.
-The Infection Prevention Director and the Physician Advisor are responsible for the activities of the hospital Infection Prevention Committee and have the authority and responsibility to institute appropriate control measures or conduct epidemiologic studies relevant to patients and/or personnel.
-The Infection Prevention Director fulfills responsibilities to Infection Prevention Task Force at the corporate level and attends meetings regularly.
UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center is a 293-bed regional health care facility conveniently located between Baltimore, D.C. and Annapolis, and one of 12 hospitals that make up the University of Maryland Medical System.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, laboratory science, microbiology, or related field required.
Master’s degree preferred in Public Health or Epidemiology or related field.
Infection Control certification by the Certification Board of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) required , or obtain within 2 years of hire.
RN requires current license in the state of Maryland.
At least 1 years experience in clinical infection control required.
