We are looking for a candidate with the expertise, experience, and abilities to provide leadership in pharmacoepidemiologic research and risk management strategy. This individual will lead teams in the development of proposals and projects, with particular emphasis on field and database studies of medication safety including risk minimization evaluations. He/she will oversee large-scale data collection, lead and supervise analyses, author manuscripts, and lead interactions with clients and research partners. This position will be based in the Barcelona office.
The Pharmacoepidemiology and Risk Management team includes over 35 colleagues located in the US (North Carolina & Massachusetts), and Spain (Barcelona). We are active members of the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance and the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology.
Senior Epidemiologist for non-management Director role within the Epidemiology Team will:
Lead teams, conduct retrospective and prospective epidemiologic studies
Design and write proposals, including budget of large and complex studies, many of them multi-database
Design epidemiology studies, write protocols and analysis plans
Write study reports and manuscripts
Lead interactions with clients and research partners
Doctoral degree in Epidemiology or equivalent.
10 years of experience in the field of pharmacoepidemiology and risk management with publications in peer reviewed journals.
Active participation in professional societies and networks will be highly valued.
Solid understanding of good pharmacoepidemiology practice and regulations and international research networks in pharmacoepidemiology.
Demonstrated effective communications (written, verbal and presentation skills) in a cross functional collaborative environment. The working language is English. Additional languages are highly valued.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff, research partners, and clients.
Ability to lead and operate in a large matrix multidisciplinary multi-sector team in multiple locations under tight timelines and be flexible in taking on and performing assignments as necessary including assisting other project teams.
Ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Expertise in respiratory (preferred) and cardiovascular epidemiology highly valued.
Prior experience working within or with pharmaceutical companies or within an established pharmacoepidemiology research organization is highly valued.
